Dan Sklut began his law enforcement career in 1977 when he joined the Shrewsbury, Massachusetts Police department as an auxiliary officer. He became a Special officer in 1979 and was appointed a full time patrolman in 1984. Chief Sklut rose through the ranks quickly, being promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1985 and to lieutenant in 1988. He served as a lieutenant for the next 24 years commanding the three department divisions and the regional drug task force at different times during his career. While working in law enforcement he also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve in the Security Forces career field, retiring after 22 years of service.
In 2012 Dan Sklut was appointed as the Department’s third full time chief. He and his wife Pam have long been drawn to a rural life in a small community. When not working they devote much of their energies to their agricultural interests and the out doors.
